Luke Richards puts the first points on the scoreboard for Caerphilly

A much stronger, much improved Caerphilly side were highly competitive for more than 60 minutes of the game against fifth from top, Swansea last Saturday in front of a 2,000 crowd.
It's obvious for all to see that under the new coaching set up of Terry Holmes, Mark Ring and Charlie Faulkner, who must be the envy of many premier league sides, that their intention of pulling Caerphilly off the floor is working.

 The Caerphilly forwards are driving the ball with a powerful rolling maul and look far more aggressive. While the backs are playing with greater vision and direction and look a threatening force against their opposition.
Swansea got of to an early start with a penalty kicked by outside-half, Gavin Henson soon to be cancelled out by Caerphilly pivot, outside-half, Luke Richards.

Swansea stole possession of the attacking Castletown men in the Swansea 22 metre area, but a pass from Swansea Captain and centre, Scott Gibbs was well intercepted by Caerphilly full-back, Justin Thomas to touch down under the posts and converted by Richards.

 Caerphilly wing, Geraint Lewis was unfortunate after a kick and chase went dramatically wrong when the ball bounced over the Swansea try-line, Lewis dived to ground the ball which bobbled to the right as the dive was made and 5 points went begging.

Henson was to kick 2 more penalties and a conversion following a try scored by Scott Gibbs with an angled run averting the Caerphilly defence.
Caerphilly brought the scores back level with a Richards penalty in the 40th minute.
A very flattering half-time 16 - 16 score for the All Whites who should have been 10 points adrift at this stage.

Three Welsh Internationals were the replacements in the starting line-up for the second period for Swansea including Colin Charvis, Andy Moore and Kevin Morgan to be followed shortly by British Lions and Wales prop, Darren Morris.
Swansea increased their lead in the 47th minute with a Steve Winne try and Henson conversion.

Caerphilly pulled back with a try involving Mathew Bolton and Darren Davies for a Craig Fitzpatrick try.
Henson increased the Swansea lead to 26 - 21 with a penalty.
The following 20 minutes saw both sides making replacements and Swansea and Caerphilly both battling to gain valuable ground.

Swansea replacement flanker, Colin Charvis made a 60 metre run through the tiring defence to score under the posts and converted by Henson.
Henson to bring his tally to 21 points with a penalty 2 minutes into injury time.
